My Heart’s with My Herd
By Sarah
From Un-[kam-uh-flahzh]-ed

Today 11:53 AM - 0 views
My mind rages in effort to keep pace with my heart trying to make sense of all the feeling. My father used to tell me that decisions can’t be based on emotions. He’d say I have to be able to think through a matter before I act on it. It’s funny because [...]

When You Wake Up
By Les
From Midlife Mastery Journal

If you're at midlife, or if you're facing seemingly-catastrophic loss, if you're feeling lost, purposeless, directionless and completely bereft of any semblance of spirituality, rejoice! Your spiritual awakening is here!

"There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you."
~ Maya Angelou

Current Trends in Modern Bedroom Furniture
By Bobby
From Bobby Berk Home

Yesterday 10:07 PM - 11 views

The current trends in modern bedroom furniture for the last few years have centered on simple, clean lines and curves and sharp cornered geometric shapes. Square shaped platform beds and crescent shaped nightstands are big sellers, as are simple little wall art hangings and accessories carefully dotted throughout the room. Although many people still insist on using night tables, with platform beds they are usually phased out and instead are extensions of the modern platform beds. Some of the platforms extend past the actual mattress and others do not, giving a more modest look to modern bedrooms. In some designs, modern platform bed feet are usually located close to the center of the platform, which seems to give the appearance of the head board and foot board along with the curved shape of the platform having a sophisticated, trendy aura.

The ugly bus runs later
By Chris
From G.D.D.O.H

Yesterday 4:56 PM - 4 views
The hot guy who read the WSJ I saw on the bus every morning this week except Friday. Friday I was up late and caught a bus about 40 minutes later than normal. The later bus is sort of like the short bus for looks. Seriously, there was not a single good looking ugly on that bus! I will definitely make sure that I my alarm is set properly from now on.

Last week was interesting. Wednesday I wore a suit and tie to work as that morning I had to go to the offices of someone the firm does business with and I needed to make sure I represented the firm properly. I had to wake the husband up to make sure my tie matched. He was not happy about that, lol.

Losing It
By Sean
From Alone and Unobserved

Yesterday 3:38 PM - 18 views
Just about two years ago, I enrolled in a ten-week fitness/weight-loss program with the goal of losing sixteen pounds of fat and gaining six pounds of muscle. I never made it, although I did make significant progress, and for about six months to a year after the program I was thinner and in better shape [...]

Who's Zooming
By Don
From The Adventures of Maui Don

Yesterday 3:23 PM - 7 views

A huge, densely packed group of Spinner Dolphins kept zooming past me this morning, first one way then the other. Out to sea, then in very shallow, down South, then up North, back and forth. They would slow down just a little bit as they passed, before zooming away again.

Unexpected Revelations
By Chris
From A Day in the Life

Yesterday 10:39 AM - 25 views
I find that it's often from the more unexpected places, as the least likely times that we genuinely gain insight into ourselves. I had a corporate training on Leadership, Adaptability and Flexibility this week for work. It was a typical day long training with obvious, but somewhat helpful takeaways and reminders. Nothing extraordinary or worth writing home to Mom about, until the very end of the session.

Our trainer announced we were going to do an activity. There were 17 of us at the training, and she laid down 17 brown paper squares on the floor. The game itself is rather, unimportant, but essentially we were given a list of 3 "rules" to follow, and slowly she took away squares and people who didn't have squares got eliminated. I've been to enough leadership seminars to know that every "game" has a moral, and usually a goal that isn't immediately obvious.

Why We Love Lady Gaga
By TJ
From Gay at BYU

Yesterday 2:20 AM - 37 views
This post is in response to Quinn's question about why Lady Gaga is such a big deal in the gay world.  To be honest, I can't explain why she is such a phenomenon, but I will share with you the reasons why I love her so much.

First and foremost, she makes darn good music.  Plain and simple.  She is a genius at writing the most catchy tunes that will undoubtedly stay in your head for days afterward.  It takes a lot of talent to write so many unforgettable songs.  Most songs nowadays lack that power to stay with you; you hear them and once the next song comes on, you've already forgotten it.  I would not be exaggerating if I said that every song on Lady Gaga's The Fame Monster album has, at one point or another, gotten stuck in my mind.  The fact that she has 2 Grammy awards, 5 number one hits (4 in 2009 alone, the most ever in one calendar year), and has sold over 8 million records is impressive.  But to do it all by the time you are 23?  Now that takes some talent.

Tired Arms
By Don
From The Adventures of Maui Don

3/12/2010 6:41 PM - 20 views

The ocean was so calm and flat this morning that I kept swimming and swimming and swimming - I just couldn't stop.

As I passed over these three Humpback Whales (mom, calf and escort), they had the courtesy to surface next to me. They headed one way and I continued swimming and swimming and swimming the other.
